Voncile (Smith) Lee

Voncile Smith Lee, age 78, of McKenzie, passed away February 14, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

On a bright day in 1947, Voncile Lee was born. She grew up with her four siblings in Chapman, Alabama, learning the value of hard work and honesty. She met the love of her life and married Lester in 1963. Over the years, she had many jobs, but none were as important as her role as a mother and farmhand. During this time, Voncile developed a love for shoes, furniture, and new cars. Above all the things she enjoyed shopping for, she loved her family most. 

Sunday afternoons, after she came home from church, became known as “Granny Day” —a time when her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren piled in to visit. Her chances of missing a trip to the Smoky Mountains were as slim as losing a game of aggravation. Over the years, she had many names, but to our family, she was simply Granny.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at Keahey Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, February 16, 2026, at Keahey Funeral Home. Rev. Pete Lee and Rev. Zackery Campbell will officiate. Interment will follow in Brooks Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Landan Lee, Hunter Allred, Kaleb Richard, Shane Lee, Kyle Nolen, and Shep Lucas. Honorary pallbearers will be Tanner Odom, Jonathan Nolen, and Isaac Lee. Keahey Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.

Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Pete (Randee) Lee of McKenzie, AL, and Buck (Diane) Lee of McKenzie, AL; daughters, Kathy (David) Campbell of McKenzie, AL, and Sheriee Lee of McKenzie, AL; grandchildren, Rachel (Kaleb) Richard, Hannah (Hunter) Allred, Rebekah Lee, Abby (Tanner) Odom, Alesha Langford, Landan Lee, Sydney Lee, Leigh (Shane) Lee, Ashley (Kyle) Nolen, and Zack (Lori) Campbell; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carlon and Liz Smith, husband, Lester R. Lee; a great-granddaughter, Kennleigh Lee; brothers, Aubrey Smith and Ray Smith; and sisters, Ernestine Simmons and Wilene Josey.
