Mary Kirkland Obituary

Mary Lillian Kirkland went to be with the Lord on February 15, 2026, at her home in Andalusia, Alabama at the age of eighty-seven. She was a devout Sunday School teacher and a church member for many years. 

Mary lived in various places, and then settled in Andalusia, Alabama. Her occupational careers included being a councilwoman, a nurse, an ambulance attendant, a seamstress, and a waitress. She enjoyed traveling to Bluegrass Festivals all over the Southern US and visited forty-seven out of fifty states, but her most cherished pastime was to be surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She was a vibrant, loving person who enjoyed hobbies that included clogging, dancing, painting, singing, shopping, gardening, camping, traveling, fishing, hunting, playing cards and dominoes. She will be missed forever by her family and all who knew and loved her. 

She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Lee Roy Kirkland and her parents, James Wilton Pettie, and Carrie Lee Bailey; and her brothers, James (Buddy) Pettie, Robert Pettie, Charles Pettie, John (JW) Pettie, and Tommy Pettie. Her sister, Linda Faye Warthen, her children; Richard Dean and Virginia (Jenny) Hall, and her grandson James Carl (JC) Dean.

Mary is survived by her four children; Ron Adams (Debra), Judy Bracewell (Alan), Bobby Blackburn, Janice Barron, and thirteen grandchildren; Davy, Amanda, Rhonda, Christy, Chad, Stephanie, Brent, BJ, Ty “Danielle”, Colby, Taylor, Jessie “Dillion”, and Tripp. As well as a host of great grandchildren, and one great, great grandchild. 

The family will receive friends on Friday, February 20, 2026, at 1:00 pm, at Keahey Funeral Home, with the funeral following at 2:00 pm, with Brother Roger Lee, officiating. Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Chad Bracewell, Taylor Blackburn, Colby Blackburn, Ty Hall, Brent Hall, and Brandon Hall. Honorary pallbearers will be Gage Arthur, Jeremiah Arthur, and Will Baldwin. Jessie Barron Covin, her granddaughter, will give her eulogy. Burial will follow in Stone Lake Gardens Cemetery.
