Gary Thompson Obituary

GARY LYNN THOMPSON

DECEMBER 20, 1950 – FEBRUARY 17, 2026

I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:  Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.

  2 Timothy 4: 7-8

Gary Lynn Thompson, age 75 of Attalla, AL passed away on February 17, 2026, at his home.

Gary Lynn lived a life marked by kindness, strength and unwavering dedication to his family and friends.  Above all else he was a loving husband, dad, father-in-law, “pop” to his grandchildren, brother, and “daddy” to his beloved dogs, Chance and Lucy.

His son, Brandon, was his greatest pride and he showed his love not just through words but through constant support, laughter, guidance, and presence.  He was always there to offer advice.  Gary Lynn made the life-changing decision to accept Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior early in his life.  He had a generous heart and warm spirit.  He found joy in the simple things; spending time with family and his passion for woodcraft turning the most beautiful bowls and pens.  Most of all he loved to share his love for Christ and how the Lord had blessed him through grace and mercy.

Gary Lynn is survived by his loving wife of over 50 years, Ramona (Mony); his son, Brandon and daughter-in-law Tiffany; his grandchildren; Noah and Natalie; his sister, Katrina Frye; his brother-in-law, C.L. Smith; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Gary Lynn is preceded in death by his parents; Eldridge (Buck) and Evelyn Floyd Thompson, sister; Joyce Smith.

Though hearts are heavy we are grateful for the time we shared with him and the legacy of love he leaves behind.  His examples will live on through his family and those lives he impacted.
